Live Roulette Guide: Bets, Odds and Table Choice

Roulette is the clearest example of a fixed house edge. Understanding where that edge comes from tells you which table to sit at.

Live Roulette Guide: Bets, Odds and Table Choice

Single zero vs double zero

A European wheel has one zero and a house edge near 2.7 per cent. An American wheel adds a double zero and roughly doubles that cost. Choose single zero whenever both are offered.

Inside bets

Straight up, split, street, corner and line. High payouts, low hit frequency, and much larger swings in both directions.

Outside bets

Red or black, odd or even, high or low, dozens and columns. Close to even money, far lower variance, and the same house edge as inside bets.

Systems do not change the edge

Martingale and similar progressions redistribute when you lose, not whether you lose. Table limits guarantee the progression eventually fails.

Frequently asked questions

Do past numbers predict future spins?

No. Each spin is independent of every spin before it.

Which bet is safest?

Even-money outside bets have the lowest variance, though the house edge is identical.
